Dumbarton vs Raith Rovers - Dumbarton at full steam ahead in pursuit of Championship safety

Posted Friday, April 15, 2016 by PA

Dumbarton boss Stephen Aitken has a fully-strength squad to choose from for the home game against Raith.

Aitken has no new injury or suspension worries as his side bids to open up an eight-point gap on second-bottom Livingston with victory.

"Our advantage was down to two points last weekend, however winning our first game in hand over Queen of the South in midweek has given us a bit of breathing space," Aitken said.

"It would be great to have even more of a gap by winning this game in hand as well.

"It will not be easy as Raith are on a terrific run and have players that are looking to feature in play-off games."

Raith welcome Ross Callachan back from suspension but Iain Davidson sits out a one-game ban, while David Bates (calf) and Mark Stewart (ankle) are both sidelined.

Lewis Vaughan is not yet ready to return following knee surgery with manager Ray McKinnon looking for his men to maintain the form that has taken them into the play-offs.

McKinnon said: "The strong run we have been on has given us another crack at promotion and we do not want to lose the momentum we have. Dumbarton have plenty to play for as well, so it should be an exciting game."
