Gillingham vs Port Vale - Gillingham missing on-loan defender Adam El-Abd for visit of Port Vale

Posted Friday, April 15, 2016 by PA

Gillingham will be without on-loan Bristol City defender Adam El-Abd because of a groin problem ahead of the visit of Port Vale.

Captain John Egan is set to cover, while midfielder Doug Loft (Achilles) is not expected to be involved, nor is George Williams.

Midfielder Bradley Dack and forward Cody McDonald are both fit following injury problems, so come into contention.

On loan Reading forward Dominic Samuel continues his rehabilitation from a knee injury.

Port Vale boss Rob Page has warned his players he will not accept them taking their foot off the gas as their season draws to a close.

Vale have four games left but their hopes of promotion are effectively over, as they sit 12th, nine points adrift of the play-offs.

Midfielder Michael O'Connor returned from a thigh injury to play 82 minutes in the win over Crewe last weekend and is likely to keep his place.

The victory was Vale's first in five matches.
