Divock Origi: The ability to “play as a team” is Liverpool’s strength this season

Divock Origi has hailed the team spirit at Liverpool this season, claiming the Reds' strongest attribute under Jurgen Klopp is their ability to "play as a team."

Klopp took over from Brendan Rodgers back in October of last year and although results haven't always shown a vast improvement, performances have certainly been on the up under the German's reign.

The ex-Borussia Dortmund boss bas breathed a dash of excitement back to life at Anfield, which will be fully felt later this week when they welcome his former employers to Merseyside for the return leg of their Europa League quarter-final tie.

Origi has personally enjoyed a Liverpool revival under the 48-year-old, playing in 14/24 league matches, and the striker says the Reds showed how many "qualities" the current side possess in Sunday's emphatic victory over Stoke City.

"You have to play as a team. That's our strong point, you have to play as a team," he said, as quoted by BBC Sport.

"That was very satisfying. It's never easy to play against Stoke but we showed we had a lot of qualities.

"I'm never satisfied with my own play, but I'm happy. It's nice to play and score. I'm learning and enjoying my football."

Origi came off the bench to net a second-half brace in the 4-1 win over the Potters and score his third goal in his last two games for Liverpool.

He was left on the substitutes bench in place of Daniel Sturridge but is expected to return to the starting line-up on Thursday against Dortmund, who he will be hoping to dump out of Europe with another goal after his strike in the first leg.

Sunday's victory over Stoke lifted Liverpool to within nine points of the top four and a late surge for Champions League qualification certainly isn't out of the equation, with Klopp's men having a game in hand over their direct competition in the Premier League.

But all eyes will be on the Europa League in midweek as Origi and co. look to once again display the strong team spirit shown in abundance at Anfield so far this season.
