Manchester United coach Louis van Gaal has singled out wonderkid Marcus Rashford for criticism following their 3-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
The Red Devils were outclassed by the Lilywhites at White Hart Lane, managing just five shots to their hosts' 16. United fell apart during six second-half minutes, conceding three goals in quick succession as Dele Alli, Toby Alderweireld and Erik Lamela put van Gaal's troubled troops to the sword.
While the Dutch coach will surely be furious with his defence after their capitulation, he slammed his strikers after the match for their sub-par showing, and somewhat harshly singled out Rashford for criticism.
"I wanted more running in behind," van Gaal told the media after the match, as reported by the Independent.
"I think we had chances to do that, because Spurs are like that with full-backs who come up, so you need running in deep, and Ashley [Young] has done that very well for the Under-21s and it was not Marcus' best game."
The performances of some of United's youngsters has been a rare point of positivity for the club during a tricky season, with Rashford-who burst onto the scene with a brace against Midtjylland - a bright light for the Red Devils.
Rashford followed his debut showing up with a double and an assist in a remarkable showing against Arsenal, but since then, has managed just one goal in seven showings as his form has steadily waned.
