Gillingham vs Walsall - Hessenthaler a doubt for the Walsall clash

Midfielder Jake Hessenthaler remains doubtful for Gillingham's League One home encounter with Walsall on Tuesday, after losing a tooth in a clash of heads at Sheffield United.

The 21-year-old was forced off little more than half an hour into Saturday's goalless draw in Sheffield, and has since received further treatment to his mouth.

John Egan will be looking to force his way back into the starting line-up after taking a seat on the bench in Sheffield.

The defender was an unused replacement on Saturday on his return from knee trouble that had kept him sidelined since mid-February.

Walsall will check on Tom Bradshaw and James O'Connor.

Striker Bradshaw is nursing a groin injury following the defeat at Oldham while O'Connor will also be assessed before the team travel to Kent after missing out on Saturday with a calf complaint.

Caretaker boss Jon Whitney implemented a new 4-3-3 formation against the Latics with the system giving the likes of Romaine Sawyers, Jordy Hiwula and Anthony Forde licence to roam, and he may line up that way again on Tuesday night.

Isaiah Osbourne is still out with a knee injury which has sidelined him since the start of the season and prevented him from making his Saddlers debut.
