Goals either side of the interval from Bruno Peres and Maxi Lopez steered Torino to a 2-1 victory over Atalanta at the Stadio Olimpico.
Peres struck the opener in the 35th minute having been played through by Afriyie Acquah, then teed-up Lopez's right-footed effort in the first minute of the second half.
Luca Cigarini's free-kick provided an 82nd-minute reply for Atalanta, who were then reduced to 10 men in the dying moments of the contest when Marten de Roon was sent off having collected a second booking.
The result sees Torino, in 11th, move 11 points clear of the Serie A relegation zone with six games to go, while 14th-placed Atalanta are eight points above the bottom three.
