Bury 1 - 0 Doncaster Rovers: Doncaster's survival hopes take a huge blow at Bury
Posted Sunday, April 10, 2016 by PA
Doncaster's relegation fears increased as Bury beat them 1-0 thanks to Leon Clarke's predatory strike 13 minutes from time.
Clarke volleyed home a pinpoint cross from John O'Sullivan to leave Rovers eight points from safety with five matches to play.
Bury went closest in the first half, when O'Sullivan raced clear after 13 minutes, only to be thwarted by a superb save from Remi Matthews.
Rovers midfielder Gary McSheffrey saw a shot deflected inches wide, while defender Andy Butler rose superbly before heading just over the crossbar.
The visitors fluffed a great chance in the 58th minute. Andy Williams pounced on a poor Craig Jones back-pass, but then drove a shot wastefully over.
Williams had the ball in the back of the Bury net, but it was ruled out after a Rovers colleague was spotted in an offside position, before Shakers striker Clarke punished them.
