Airdrie United 1 - 1 Stenhousemuir: Alan Lithgow salvages point for Diamonds
Posted Sunday, April 10, 2016 by PA
Alan Lithgow's late leveller saved Airdrie from defeat by forcing a 1-1 draw with Stenhousemuir.
The two sides were lagging too far behind the Ladbrokes League One play-off places - and yet not sufficiently worried about relegation - to make a feisty match of it in the first half.
Angus Beith had a couple of shots for the home side, and Nicky Cadden tested Colin McCabe at the other end.
Alan Cook finally broke the deadlock, putting Brown Ferguson's visitors in command on the hour, after receiving and dispatching a Stephen Stirling pass.
It looked as if it would be enough to win the game, but in the dying seconds Lithgow headed in David Cox's cross to restore parity.
