Tottenham make record-breaking offer to end Man United interest

The Daily Mail report a five-year contract worth £5.5m-a-season is on the table to end interest from Manchester United.

Talks took place between Spurs supremo Daniel Levy and the Argentine boss during the recent international break.

Tottenham are waiting for Pochettino’s answer after leading the club to an impressive title challenge this season and if he agrees to the deal he would become the highest paid manager in the club's history.

Leaders Leicester are seven points clear of their nearest challengers with just six matches left to play in the Premier League.

Pochettino is regarded as one of the most talented managers in Europe since he took charge at Southampton in 2013.

With Louis van Gaal under severe pressure, United are monitoring the 44-year-old, who has blooded youngsters impressively for the north London club.

The reports claim Pochettino is happy at White Hart Lane but may still wait until the end of the season to put pen to paper on any new deal.

Speaking in January, Pochettino said: “I’m very happy here. We've created after 18 months a very good group, with a strong basis for success in the future and I'm very happy.”

Spurs return to Premier League action this weekend when they host United looking to close the gap on the Foxes.
