Ola John could be named in the Reading starting line-up for the visit of Nottingham Forest.
The Dutch winger staked his claim by climbing off the bench to hit a stunning winner at Bolton on Saturday.
Michael Hector and Hal Robson-Kanu remain doubts after missing out at the weekend through injury.
Fellow midfielder Aaron Tshibola is still out with a hamstring injury which could sideline him for the rest of the season.
Forest full-back Eric Lichaj will serve a one-match ban at the Madejski Stadium after his red card against Brentford.
Fellow defender Michael Mancienne also looks likely to miss the trip after sustaining an injury during the 3-0 home loss to the Bees.
Reds head coach Paul Williams, who has lost his last two games, may be tempted to start club captain Henri Lansbury after the midfielder made his return from injury as a substitute at the weekend.
Club-record signing Britt Assombalonga is close to making his long-awaited return from a knee injury. The 23-year-old striker has been sidelined for 13 months but played, and scored, for Forest's reserve-team last week.
