Chievo 3 - 1 Palermo: Defeat at Chievo leaves Palermo in trouble

Palermo remain in the Serie A relegation zone after slumping to a 3-1 defeat at Chievo on Sunday.
The Sicilians have not won a game since January and occupy 18th place with only seven games of the season remaining.
Fabrizio Cacciatore ensured it would be an uphill battle for Palermo with his sixth-minute opener, but Alberto Gilardino managed to equalise for Walter Novellino's men shortly before the half-hour mark.
Chievo turned the screw after the break, though, with Nicola Rigoni heading home in the 53rd minute and Slovenian winger Valter Birsa settling the encounter with a free-kick on 74 minutes.
