Toulouse 2 - 0 Caen: Toulouse topple Caen to boost Ligue 1 survival hopes

Posted Sunday, April 03, 2016 by PA

Toulouse gave their prospects of Ligue 1 survival a huge boost by securing a 2-0 home win over Caen.

The hosts took a fortunate lead after 31 minutes when Ronny Rodelin scored at the wrong end, diverting Adrien Regattin's cross into his own goal.

Caen's best chance of an equaliser came six minutes after half-time, but Toulouse goalkeeper Alban Lafont pushed away Andy Delort's vicious effort.

The Violets secured the victory, which saw them move just four points from safety, five minutes from time, Pantxi Sirieix setting up captain Martin Braithwaite to slot home from close range.
