Substitute Farid El Alagui's late goal rescued a point for Hibernian as they held St Mirren to a 2-2 draw in an entertaining Ladbrokes Championship clash.

Third-placed Hibs made a bright start and went ahead in the 27th minute through Jason Cummings, who latched onto John McGinn's threaded pass and placed his effort underneath Jamie Langfield.

The hosts were back on level terms before the break when Rocco Quinn found space in the penalty area and steered his effort home from close range.

Lawrence Shankland fired St Mirren ahead in the 57th minute, drilling his effort low into the bottom corner, and went close again soon after when he blasted his shot over the crossbar from the edge of the area.

Anthony Stokes tested Langfield before setting up El Alagui for the equaliser in the 89th minute.
