Peterborough United 3 - 0 Crewe Alexandra: Harry Beautyman bags a brace as Posh ease to victory

Peterborough midfielder Harry Beautyman enjoyed a couple of late birthday presents as he bagged a brace to plunge basement boys Crewe closer to the drop in a 3-0 win at the ABAX Stadium.

Midfielder Beautyman snapped a 13-month goal drought in Posh's previous match against Coventry on Good Friday and has seemingly been bitten by the scoring bug.

Beautyman, who turned 24 the day before the game, lashed home a 12th-minute opener before doubling Posh's lead five minutes before the break after Alex goalkeeper Ben Garratt had done brilliantly to deny Aaron Williams.

A third successive Peterborough victory was clinched when striker Lee Angol continued his own return to scoring form in the second half.

Angol produced a rasping finish after being picked out by a glorious 67th-minute pass from Marcus Maddison - his second goal in as many games after a four-month barren run.

A fine save from Garratt late on denied Beautyman a hat-trick and also twice kept out Maddison, who had a hand in all three of the home side's goals.

Crewe offered little as their winless run was extended to 11 games.

Charlie Kirk curled long-range efforts just wide in both halves before substitute Jamie Jones blasted over.
