Blackpool vs Southend - Jack Redshaw could boost Blackpool
Posted Friday, April 01, 2016 by PA
Seven-goal striker Jack Redshaw could feature against Sky Bet League One play-off hopefuls Southend after missing Blackpool's victory over Doncaster with a hip injury.
Neil McDonald's rallying cry for his frontmen to up their games and end a goalscoring drought has paid dividends - but he is now left with a selection dilemma.
Redshaw, Danny Philliskirk and Mark Cullen have all scored vital goals in the Tangerines' three-game unbeaten run and manager McDonald faces a poser as to who to pick against the Shrimpers.
On-loan Liverpool defender Lloyd Jones is pushing for a recall after the Doncaster match came too soon after his ankle injury, while midfielder Henry Cameron (knee) is a long-term absentee. Emmerson Boyce has returned from international duty with Barbados.
Southend are set for a double boost in attack for the visit to Bloomfield Road.
David Mooney and Noel Hunt have been out with ankle and knee injuries respectively but the pair have recovered and could return this weekend.
Defender Ryan Leonard was named on the bench in the midweek win over Sheffield United following a knee problem and could start but Michael Timlin's knee injury means he will miss out.
Southend are eighth in the table, six points off the play-offs, having won only twice in their last seven league matches.
