Monaco 1 - 2 Bordeaux: Monaco suffer surprise home defeat at hands of Bordeaux

Second-placed Monaco's eight-game unbeaten run in Ligue 1 came to a halt against a Bordeaux side that won for the first time in half a dozen fixtures.

Les Girondins scored from corners in either half through Thomas Toure and Adam Ounas in a 2-1 success, with the hosts only claiming a stoppage-time own goal from Frederic Guilbert which came after Vagner Love's penalty was saved.

The win, Bordeaux's third over Monaco this season, meant the visitors have now gone 10 games without defeat at the Stade Louis II.

Toure broke the deadlock in first-half stoppage time having peeled off into an unmarked position to produce a back-post finish.

Monaco clearly had not learned their lesson because 11 minutes after the interval another set-piece was sliced home by Ounas, who was all alone after goalkeeper Danijel Subasic had been impeded by team-mate Elderson.

Toure should have made it 3-0, having beaten the offside trap and rounded Subasic, yet he inexplicably opted to attempt a pass into Enzo Crivelli rather than roll home himself.

Monaco stirred late on and earned a penalty when Cedric Yambere put his arms around Guido Carrillo's neck.

However, with players encroaching into the box as Love stuttered in his run-up, his spot-kick was saved by Jerome Prior and the referee blew his whistle to award Bordeaux a free-kick despite the Brazilian putting in the rebound.

The hosts did score when Prior's save from Carrillo's header went in off Guilbert's knee, but Bordeaux claimed the three points to boost their survival chances.
