Crewe Alexandra vs Bradford AFC - Ben Nugent's Crewe place in doubt against Bradford
Posted Monday, March 28, 2016 by PA
Ben Nugent could be sacrificed if Crewe change their system for the visit of Bradford in Sky Bet League One.
The defender was taken off at half-time in the 3-2 loss to Sheffield United for midfielder Billy Bingham, and the Alex were much improved after the interval in a 4-3-3 formation.
Bingham has made three substitute appearances since returning from a hamstring injury and may be handed a first start since January.
Marcus Haber is still away on international duty with Canada while Callum Saunders (knee) remains out.
Bradford winger Paul Anderson could make his first appearance since breaking his leg last September after he was an unused substitute in Saturday's 1-0 home win against play-off rivals Millwall.
Defender Reece Burke was released from the England Under-20s squad to play on Saturday, but Josh Cullen (Republic of Ireland Under-21s) and Lee Evans (Wales Under-21s) remain on international duty.
Tom Thorpe, on loan from Rotherham, made his debut for the club against Millwall and is expected to continue in midfield alongside the recalled Billy Knott.
Striker Steven Davies is pushing for a recall after stepping off the bench on Saturday to score the winner, but defender Rory McArdle is continuing his recovery after dislocating his shoulder.
