Ayr Utd. vs Stranraer - Plenty for boss McCall to ponder as weakened Ayr take on Stranraer

Ayr United will be without suspended pair Nicky Devlin and Ross Docherty for their home game against Stranraer.

Paddy Boyle and Ross McCrorie both miss out due to head injuries, Brian Gilmour is sidelined with a hamstring problem and Peter Murphy is rated 50/50, but Jamie Adams returns to contention.

Manager Ian McCall said: "We are facing a side that are bang in form. We are still looking for the points that will secure a play-off place and this would be a great game to get them in, especially as Stranraer are immediately below us in the table now."

Stranraer are without a trio of injured players as David McGurn (toe), David Barron (ankle) and Lee Mair (groin) remain sidelined, while Paul Cairney, Jamie Longworth and Kevin Schmidt are all expected to shake off knocks.

Manager Brian Reid said: "We have done well in recent weeks to get into fourth place and now we face the hard task of staying there.

"We are playing with a bit of confidence, however going away to Ayr is one of the toughest fixtures in the league.

"We will look to make things difficult for them and if we succeed in doing that we could go on and win the game."
