A Stirring second half comeback helped bottom club Colchester register their first home Sky Bet League Two win since October after beating fellow strugglers Doncaster 4-1.

Doncaster went ahead midway through the first half when debutant Gary McSheffrey fired low past Elliot Parish, after James Coppinger's pass had dissected the home defence.

Elliot Lee's shot hit a post just after the break, while Owen Garvan's free-kick flashed inches wide.

At the other end, Coppinger's shot went close before Colchester equalised just after the hour when Chris Porter's low shot from Gavin Massey's low cross flew in off a post.

The U's then went ahead with 19 minutes remaining when Lee's superb shot from more than 20 yards went in following Nicky Shorey's short pass.

And a minute later, U's midfielder Alex Gilbey let fly with a sensational long-range effort which sailed into the top corner.

Substitute Richard Brindley slotted home a fourth with three minutes remaining after George Moncur had run at the Doncaster defence, to wrap up Colchester's fine comeback win.
