Juventus fined for illegal payments in Motta deal

At the end of a long running saga, Juventus and their general director Giuseppe Marotta have been fined for their part in the Marco Motta transfer.

Juventus, Udinese and Genoa were all placed under investigation back in December for an alleged breach of rules concerning agent payments.

The main focus of the case are payments to agent Giuseppe Bozzo without written consent of the FIGC, when Juve signed Motta from Udinese back in 2010 and now the investigation has reached a decision.

After Juventus filled a plea bargain, the club were fined €8,000, while Marotta earned the heaviest fine of any of the convicted parties, €10,000.

Motta himself, who now plays at Championship side Charlton, was fined €5,000, but Udinese, several of their board members, Juventus sporting director Fabio Guild, and Bozzo were all acquitted.

A verdict was not reached on Genoa, who sign signed Motta on loan from Juve in 2014, and the club will learn their fate on April 14.
