Mansfield Town 1 - 1 Portsmouth: Stalemate does little to help play-off hopefuls Mansfield and Portsmouth

Play-off rivals Mansfield and Portsmouth both saw more precious points dropped as they fought out an entertaining 1-1 draw at Field Mill.

Pompey wasted a chance to open the scoring as Marc McNulty saw Scott Shearer dive to his left to superbly turn away his penalty kick after McNulty had been tripped by Dan Alfei after 21 minutes.

Instead, five minutes later, loanee Mani Dieseruvwe, making his debut, sent Matt Green clear in the box and he stroked a confident low finish past goalkeeper Ryan Fulton.

But Portsmouth were level two minutes before the break thanks to an own goal.

Ben Davies curled in a superb corner from the right and Ryan Tafazolli saw it bounce off his legs and past Shearer.

After the break, Shearer got down well to deny Michael Smith while Mitchell Rose's low 30-yard blast almost caught out Fulton, the keeper happy to concede a corner.

Shearer was almost caught out by a 25-yard Michael Doyle blast, managing to get the ball around the post.

The Stags had strong claims for a penalty in both halves from challenges on Diesteruvwe and Green, but neither were given.
