Greenock Morton 4 - 1 Alloa Athletic: Declan McManus double powers Morton past Alloa

Declan McManus struck twice as Morton beat rock-bottom Alloa 4-1 to record back-to-back wins in the Ladbrokes Championship.

Early goals from McManus and Ross Forbes put Morton in charge and, although Alloa halved the deficit through Kyle McAusland before half-time, the hosts secured all three points with late strikes from McManus and Denny Johnstone.

Both sides had chances in the opening exchanges but McManus' close-range finish in the 15th minute and Forbes' deflected strike moments later set Morton on their way.

Forbes hit the post and Johnstone went close as Morton pushed for more goals, but it was Alloa - without a win in nine matches coming in - who netted next through McAusland's fine 39th-minute strike.

Morton survived a scare in the second half when goalkeeper Derek Gaston turned a shot onto the post during a period of increasing Alloa pressure, but the hosts weathered the storm and ran out comfortable winners in the end through McManus' second of the match and Johnstone's 10th league goal of the season.
