Leyton Orient 1 - 0 Morecambe: Leyton Orient edge out Morecambe after unfortunate own goal

Posted Sunday, March 20, 2016 by PA

Ryan Edwards scored an unfortunate own goal as Leyton Orient secured a 1-0 home win against 10-man Morecambe.

In the 80th minute, Jerome Binnom-Williams crossed from the left and Alan Goodall struck his clearance against Edwards and the ball rebounded into the net.

The Shrimps found themselves a man down after just 12 minutes when goalkeeper Barry Roche saw red after bringing down striker Jay Simpson in the penalty area.

However, 19-year-old substitute Kieran O'Hara made an immediate impact by stretching out a leg to save Simpson's spot-kick.

The on-loan goalkeeper saved well from Simpson before the break and also tipped a long-range shot from Armand Gnanduillet onto the crossbar, but could do nothing to prevent the goal that gave Orient all three points.
