Port Vale vs Burton Albion FC - Ajay Leitch-Smith set to miss out for Port Vale against leaders Burton

Port Vale could once again be without striker Ajay Leitch-Smith for the Sky Bet League One home clash with leaders Burton.

Leitch-Smith has missed the last two games with a hamstring problem and after a scan showed the damage to be a slight tear, he is rated as doubtful for this game.

It remains to be seen if on-loan defender Ryan Inniss can be involved. He came off in the first half of last weekend's 3-2 win at Peterborough.

Inniss took a fall during the match, coughed up blood and was taken to hospital. Although he has subsequently returned to training, Vale will consult with his parent club Crystal Palace over whether he should play against the Brewers.

Lucas Akins has been nursing a minor knock since last weekend's win at Fleetwood but he should be available for Burton.

Anthony O'Connor has been out injured recently but he has been able to train this week and could be back in the squad.

Brewers boss Nigel Clough, whose team is six points clear at the top of the table, will not make many changes to his starting line-up but does have options should he wish to do so.

Tom Flanagan is an able deputy in defence while midfielders Callum Reilly and Robbie Weir and on-loan forward Mason Bennett will also be hoping for recalls.
