Conte eager to bring in Bonucci to Stamford Bridge

Incoming Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has identified Juventus centre-back Leonardo Bonucci as one of his primary transfer targets in the summer to replace John Terry.
Bonucci, 28, has emerged as one of the best defenders in Europe during his six-year spell in Turin and enjoyed great success under the stewardship of Conte when the pair worked together previously, winning three Serie A titles.
Conte has also handed Bonucci the captaincy on different occasions during his tenure in charge of the Italian national team which further demonstrates the faith he has in his ability.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Conte has the final say on whether Terry will be offered a one-year extension to his contract but his interest in Bonucci could signal the end of Terry’s career at Stamford Bridge.
Andreas Christensen, who has excelled on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach this term, is expected to be part of Chelsea’s first-team squad next season, but Conte wants to add some experience to his backline.
Bonucci has missed just one of Juventus’ Serie A matches this season and has been typically consistent, winning 58% of his aerial duels, making 71 interceptions, and completing 87% of his passes.
He would, therefore, represent a coup should Chelsea manage to sign him but the deal could be complicated by the fact that he signed a five-year deal with the Old Lady last summer.
