Inter Milan 2 - 1 Bologna: Inter move fourth despite loss of Mauro Icardi

Inter Milan moved up above Fiorentina into fourth place in Serie A following a 2-0 home win over Bologna, but saw forward Mauro Icardi forced off early on with a knee injury.

The Nerazzurri had to make a change after just 11 minutes as Icardi was unable to continue, having slid into the six-yard box to try to covert a low cross from Eder.

The club later confirmed the injury would be assessed over the coming days, but he could be a major doubt for the clash with Roma next week.

The visitors also had to bring on a substitute when Mattia Destro limped out because of a foot problem after 17 minutes.

Bologna, who have managed just one goal in the past four Serie A matches following three successive 0-0 draws, threatened when Godfred Donsah got away down the right, but the Ghana winger could only drill his angled shot off target.

Inter pressed towards the end of the first half as Adem Ljajic's shot hit the outside of a post, before Brazil defender Joao Miranda almost flicked the ball in with a backheel.

With 18 minutes left, Ivan Perisic finally broke the deadlock.

Danilo D'Ambrosio headed a corner from the left back towards the far post, where Perisic nodded in from two yards out.

Inter made it 2-0 on 76 minutes when D'Ambrosio volleyed the ball in after it was knocked down from another corner.

Bologna forward Luca Rizzo was unfortunate to see two close-range efforts blocked before Franco Brienza netted a consolation on 89 minutes with an angled drive.
