Oxford United 0 - 1 Leyton Orient: Jobi McAnuff seals Orient win at Oxford

Jobi McAnuff struck late on to give Leyton Orient a 1-0 win at high-flying Oxford to boost their hopes of making the play-offs.

The win maintained Orient's unbeaten record under new boss Kevin Nolan and lifted them to seventh, while second-placed Oxford are now just three points clear of fourth-placed Bristol Rovers.

Orient finished with 10 men after Mathieu Baudry was sent off in stoppage time for a late challenge on Kemar Roofe but Oxford did not have time to take advantage.

Moments after Oxford's defenders had miraculously prevented Sean Clohessy from netting, McAnuff fired home a low right-footed drive from 15 yards in the 74th minute.

Clohessy appeared to have an open goal seven yards out but Joe Skarz headed his shot off the line, and then Johnny Mullins made a great block from the follow-up.

The first half had been a dour battle, with both defences on top and neither keeper having to make a save. Jay Simpson sent a glancing header wide for Orient while Roofe got too much on his effort from Chris Maguire's inswinging free-kick.

In the second half Alex Cisak saved Roofe's curling free-kick low at his left post, while Liam Sercombe sent an effort across the face of the goal, but Nolan's men defended well to hold out.
