Colchester United vs Wigan Athletic - Leo Chambers set to be available to Colchester against Wigan

Colchester defender Leo Chambers, on loan from West Ham, should be available for the visit of Wigan following a back problem.

Veteran midfielder Darren Ambrose has been struggling with a muscle problem in training, so may be a doubt.

Defender Matthew Briggs could be involved after being given some time off for personal reasons, but centre-back Alex Wynter continues his recovery from a head injury.

Midfielder Sammie Szmodics is set for ankle surgery, which is expected to rule him out for the rest of the season, while striker Marvin Sordell (ankle) is also sidelined.

Wigan expect goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen to start between the posts.

The 40-year-old was forced off in the 1-1 draw with Peterborough with a head injury but manager Gary Caldwell is confident that after keeping an eye on him this week, he should be available for the trip.

Full-back Stephen Warnock, who signed on loan from Derby this week, is in line to make his debut for Latics but minor muscle injuries will keep Conor McAleny (hamstring) and Jason Pearce out after they were also withdrawn against Posh.

Chris McCann is suspended for two fixtures having been booked 10 times this term while Reece James (ankle), Michael Jacobs (calf) and Sanmi Odelusi (foot) are also missing.
