Van der Sar comes out of retirement
VV Noordwijk have confirmed that legendary Dutch goalkeeper Edwin Van der Sar will come out of retirement to represent his first senior club again.

The former Manchester United keeper retired from football in 2011 after a glittering career in Europe with the Red Devils, Ajax Amsterdam, Juventus and Fulham.

Five years on - now at the age of 45 - Van der Sar has agreed to represent the Dutch amateur team amid a goalkeeping injury crisis at the club but Noordwijk director Peter Vink admitted it might only be until their regular shot-stopper returns imminently.

"We are thrilled that Edwin wants to help," Vink told Voetbal in de Bollenstreek.

"We assume that it is basically only for one game."

Prior to his retirement Van der Sar earned 130 caps for the Netherlands and won 27 major trophies in his 20 years of professional football.
