Jose Mourinho has made Mauro Icardi his top target should he succeed Louis van Gaal at Manchester United this summer, according to reports from the Daily Star.
The Portuguese tactician is widely expected to step in should the Red Devils, as is seemingly likely, lose patience with LVG, with a 'gentleman's agreement' thought to be in place between him and the club.
There have already bee suggestions that Mourinho wants at least one top centre-back, one commanding midfielder and a prolific striker, and reports claim Icardi is a £31m target.
The Argentine currently captains Inter Milan and has netted an impressive 36 goals in Serie A action since the start of last season.
The San Siro side's owner, Erick Thohir, is reluctant to sell a key play on the cheap, but offers of around £31m are likely to be seriously considered.
Icardi is an industrious, tenacious centre-forward, whose playing style has drawn comparisons with Barcelona superstar, Luis Suarez.
