Dagenham and Redbridge 1 - 0 York City: Josh Passley's second-half effort earns Dagenham home win

Josh Passley was on target as Dagenham & Redbridge finally ended their wait for a home win, beating League Two relegation rivals, 10-man York City 1-0 at Victoria Road.

There was a moment of early controversy in the 18th minute when Daggers defender Joe Worrall appeared to drag Dave Winfield down in the box, but nothing was given.

It took until the 32nd minute for the first shot on target, with Daggers' Ashley Hemmings forcing Scott Flinders into action from just inside the box.

On the stroke of half-time, Christian Doidge nodded wide for the hosts after a great cross from the right when it looked easier to score than to miss.

York saw skipper Russell Penn dismissed for a handball on the line just before the hour mark but Joss Labadie saw his spot-kick saved.

Daggers finally took the lead in the 78th minute when Passley turned in Ashley Hemmings' cross from the left.

The result sees Daggers close to within two points of the Minstermen, but leaves them still seven adrift of safety.
