Walsall 0 - 0 Scunthorpe United: Walsall poor home form continues in Scunthorpe stalemate

Walsall's promotion hopes continued to be damaged by their poor home form, and they failed to win for the fifth time in succession at the Banks's Stadium as Scunthorpe United held them to a 0-0 League One draw.

Neither side could find the killer blow in the final third, though Kieron Morris hit the bar for the Saddlers in the 77th minute, and for the Iron Tom Hopper saw his 82nd-minute strike cleared off the line by Paul Downing.

Walsall dominated the first half but couldn't find a way past a well-drilled Scunthorpe defence, though left-back Andy Taylor had one 25-yard drive tipped over by Luke Daniels in the 12th minute, then Jim O'Brien tested home keeper Neil Etheridge with a low shot in the 18th minute.

The Saddlers had a chance to break through in the 26th minute, but Tom Bradshaw saw his 15-yard drive tipped over by the alert Daniels.

Scunthorpe had plenty of the play in the second half and almost won it on a couple of occasions, but a draw was a fair result.
