Atletico de Madrid vs Real Sociedad - Real Sociedad well versed in threat posed by Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann

Real Sociedad coach Eusebio Sacristan has tipped prolific Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann to reach even greater heights as his side attempt to muzzle their former team-mate on Tuesday.

Griezmann was a regular goalscorer during his five years in Sociedad's first-team squad but he has reached new levels since moving to Atletico for B£24million in 2014.

The France international scored 26 goals in all competitions for Atletico last season and has notched 20 goals already this term, including the winner in Saturday's 1-0 derby victory over Real Madrid.

And, according to Eusebio, there is even more to come from the 24-year-old.

The former Spain midfielder, who replaced David Moyes at Sociedad in November, said at his pre-match press conference: "I knew what he was doing at La Real and I saw the quality he had before he arrived at Atletico.

"Here, at Real Sociedad, they've commented about his mentality, and it's that which is making him fulfil all the challenges that are being put in front of him.

"From that mentality he will continue improving, overcoming challenges. I'm convinced that he will get even better."

Sociedad make the trip to the capital having climbed up to ninth place on the back of an impressive run of results that had yielded four successive victories before Saturday's 1-1 draw with Malaga.

However, they are still a massive 24 points behind second-placed Atletico and Eusebio knows just what is awaiting his side at the Vicente Calderon.

He said of Atletico: "They've been at a very high level for several seasons. They're a very solid team, consistent, supportive, unselfish. All the virtues that make them a great team and which have enabled them to fight for every title for a number of seasons."

Sociedad will be without injured trio Imanol Agirretxe, Markel Bergara and David Zurutuza for the match while Atletico are waiting to see when Stefan Savic and Yannick Carrasco will be able to return.

Both players missed the derby victory as Atletico became the first side to win at the Bernabeu in three successive seasons.

Despite that win, Atletico still remain eight points behind leaders Barcelona and they will need to produce something special if they are to claim their second Primera Division title in three seasons.

Speaking after the derby, Atletico midfielder Augusto Fernandez said: "Our intention is to fight for everything we play for, to fight to the end. At this point we're having to play catch-up, so we have to get wins."
