Southend United vs Crewe Alexandra - White could be all right on the night for Crewe clash

Southend skipper John White could return to the squad for the Sky Bet League One visit of Crewe.

The defender is fit again after spending time out with a hamstring injury, and then calf trouble.

Manager Phil Brown could make further changes following Friday night's 3-1 defeat at Port Vale - a result which dented their play-off bid.

Midfielder Ryan Leonard remains a long-term absentee due to a knee injury.

Captain Harry Davis is closing in on a comeback for Crewe but will not travel.

The 24-year-old has played just four times this season and was due to feature for the club's Under-21 side on Monday. He has been out since September with a knee injury.

George Ray will also not travel to Roots Hall despite making his Under-21 return last week, following three months out with an ankle injury.

Billy Bingham is out with a hamstring injury but is scheduled to rejoin first-team training on Friday.
