Augsburg 2 - 2 Monchengladbach: Augsburg and Gladbach share the spoils
Posted Monday, February 29, 2016 by PA
Augsburg and Borussia Monchengladbach got the result neither of them really wanted as they shared a 2-2 draw at the Augsburg Arena.
Raffael gave Gladbach the lead against the run of play in the 33rd minute but Alfred Finnbogason brought Augsburg level with a header from Paul Verhaegh's cross early in the second half.
Just three minutes later, Caiuby put Augsburg in front after Koo Ja-cheol's shot was blocked by Granit Xhaka.
The home fans' joy was short-lived, however, with Fabian Johnson bringing Gladbach back level within minutes, and Oscar Wendt missed a glorious opportunity to win it for Andre Schubert's men.
The last chance was Augsburg's as Finnbogason hit the post, leaving Augsburg a little too close to the bottom three for their liking while Gladbach are now three points behind third-placed Hertha Berlin, who won on Friday night.
