Van der Wiel feeling unimportant at PSG

Paris Saint-Germain fullback Gregory van der Wiel admits to feeling despondent after he was left out of their Champions League win over Chelsea last week.

The Netherlands international believed he would be given a chance in the first team after Serge Aurier's suspension last week, but was left disappointed after Brazilian right back Marquinhos was preferred as a replacement.
Van der Wiel was included in the matchday squad for PSG's 4-1 win over Reims in Ligue 1 and got himself on the scoresheet, but admitted his unhappiness at not playing in the Champions League.
"I'm disappointed but what can I do?" he told L'Equipe. "I can only be good like [on Saturday]. I did my job... I don't feel important.
"I play my games but I didn't play against Chelsea. At the moment, I no longer feel important."
He feels stuck in limbo as he was left out of the squad for the Champions League last eight matches against the same opposition last season.
"I'm reliving the same situation," he said. "It's a big disappointment again. It's not easy. I want to become the number one [right-back] but I'm not. I'm trying to give my best."
