MK Dons suffer David Martin injury blow

Posted Monday, February 22, 2016 by PA

MK Dons have been dealt a blow ahead of their home game against Huddersfield with the news that goalkeeper David Martin is set for a spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.

Martin suffered the injury during the 2-0 home defeat to Bristol City on Saturday and he will definitely miss out on Tuesday night as well as the trip to Blackburn at the weekend, but could potentially be out for even longer.

USA Under-23 international Cody Cropper is the only back-up for the 30-year-old, who has been the Dons' first-choice keeper since returning to the club in 2010.

Elsewhere, Samir Carruthers completes a two-match suspension while fellow midfielder Carl Baker (ankle) and defender Matthew Upson are close to resuming training but are not yet ready to return from injury.

Huddersfield head coach David Wagner is expected to make one or two changes as his side aim for a third straight league victory.

Wagner, who has no new injury or suspension worries following Saturday's 1-0 home win against Wolves, could hand deadline day signing Elvis Manu his first start.

Midfielders Dean Whitehead, Kyle Dempsey and Karim Matmour are pushing for recalls, but striker Ishmael Miller and winger Sean Scannell are still out with respective knee injuries.

On-loan Wigan midfielder Emyr Huws remains sidelined after missing the last three games due to an ankle problem.
