Hibernian FC 3 - 0 Alloa Athletic: Martin Boyle at the double as Hibs keep heat on Rangers

Hibernian maintained their pursuit of Rangers with a comfortable 3-0 win over bottom side Alloa on Sunday.

Midfielder Martin Boyle scored twice for Alan Stubbs' side, his goals coming either side of Danny Carmichael's effort.

Boyle's opener arrived five minutes in as he ran on to a through-ball from Liam Henderson and finished coolly with a dink over the advancing Scott Gallacher.

Steven Hetherington passed up a good chance to get Alloa back into it, firing straight at Mark Oxley from close range.

The second goal came six minutes before the break.

James Keatings cut Alloa open with a fine pass and Carmichael was able to put the ball beyond Gallacher.

Both sides had chances after the interval, but it was the Easter Road side who increased their lead, Chris Dagnall picking out Boyle at the back post with 13 minutes left.
