Rayo Vallecano 2 - 2 Sevilla: Sevilla denied first away win after Rayo Vallecano comeback

Rayo Vallecano fought back from two goals down to deny Sevilla a first away win of the season.

Unai Emery's men looked set to finally end their away hoodoo when Steven N'Zonzi opened the scoring after 10 minutes and Vicente Iborra doubled the lead in the 20th minute.

The visitors missed chances to add to their advantage and were pegged back before half-time through Manucho's goal. Miku then tapped in from close range midway through the second half to make it 2-2 and preserve Rayo's six-game unbeaten run.

Paco Jemez's side move three points above the relegation zone, while Sevilla stay fifth.

Sevilla continued their rampant home form last week by beating Las Palmas 2-0 and then took a huge step towards the last 16 of the Europa League by thrashing Molde 3-0 on Thursday.

They made a confident start in Vallecas and took the lead following a corner, former Stoke man N'Zonzi knocking a loose ball in from a few yards out after Juan Carlos tipped away a header from Kevin Gameiro.

Iborra also made the most of a rebound to get Sevilla's second, firing home after a shot from Vitolo had been parried by Juan Carlos.

The midfielder then hit the post a minute later, although Rayo kept on attacking at the other end. They were rewarded as Manucho beat goalkeeper Sergio Rico to get on the end of Adri Embarba's cross to set up an exciting second half.

Sevilla missed further chances to finish Rayo off after the break and were punished when Miku took advantage of miscommunication between Rico and former Tottenham defender Federico Fazio to tap in the equaliser.
