Crawley Town 1 - 1 Plymouth Argyle: Promotion-chasing Plymouth pegged back by Crawley

Second-placed Plymouth paid the penalty for not making their dominance pay as Crawley grabbed a late equaliser in a 1-1 draw at the Checkatrade.com Stadium.

Ryan Brunt deservedly headed the Pilgrims in front shortly after the break.

But former Brighton striker Shamir Fenelon came off the bench to salvage a point for Crawley in the 82nd minute as Plymouth slipped 10 points behind Sky Bet League Two's runaway leaders Northampton.

Plymouth, unbeaten away from home for four months, threatened early on when Scottish winger Gregg Wylde had a goal-bound shot parried by goalkeeper Paul Jones.

Wylde again went close when his drive was deflected over before he sent another effort wide of Jones' left-hand post.

Jones came to Crawley's rescue by parrying an angled shot by Irish defender Carl McHugh and striker Ryan Brunt was later off target following Jordan Forster's cross to the far post.

Argyle ended the half on the attack and Jones kept the hosts on terms by diving to block a low shot from Wylde after he was set up by Craig Tanner.

Striker Ryan Brunt struck to give Plymouth the lead 11 minutes after the break by heading his 10th of the season at the far post from a cross by Wylde.

Winger Gwion Edwards put pressure on Plymouth keeper Luke McCormack when his free-kick flew through a crowded penalty area and McCormack held onto the ball at the second attempt.

The hosts grabbed a point with eight minutes remaining when a free-kick from Roarie Deacon was helped on by Josh Yorwerth at the far post and substitute Fenelon turned the ball in from close range.
