Chicago Fire chase De Leeuw

The Men in Red have already signed Johan Kappelhof this season and he looks set to bbe re-united with his former team-mate de Leeuw - who's impressed for Gronigen, scoring 52 goals in 127 games since joining the Eredivisie side in 2012.

The 29-year old's contract expires at the end of the current Eredivisie season and has expressed his interest in moving abroad with the Bundesliga, English Premier League and China mooted as possible destinations.

However, Fire are ready to offer the Dutchman a lucrative deal from the money made from former fan-favorite Harry Shipps' transfer, a move that will certainly ease the pain of MLS outfit's fans.

Andrew Hauptman will be hoping to complete the signing of the Dutchman before the start of the new campiagn to improve on their disappointing 20th place finish in the overall Major League Soccer standings.
