Diego Simeone is ready to become Chelsea's next high-profile manager and has even told Atletico Madrid that he wants to make the move this summer, according to reports from OK Diario.
The Blues are currently on the lookout for a new long-term head coach after sacking Jose Mourinho in December, with current chief, Guus Hiddink, only at the club on an interim basis.
Simeone has long been mooted as a top target for the London club, and now reports claim that Stamford Bridge owner Roman Abramovich may get his man, with Simeone himself ready for a new challenge.
The uncompromising Argentine is understood to have informed Atletico of his decision, and that a tentative agreement is in place between himself and the Premier League side.
Simeone is known as one of the best coaches in European football after transforming Atleti from La Liga also-rans into champions during 2013/14.
In that same season he guided the Madrid outfit to the Champions League Final, and has since coped with the losses of key players such as Diego Costa.
