Montpellier moved out of the bottom three with a welcome 2-0 win against fellow strugglers Toulouse.
Goals either side of the break from Mustapha Yatabare and Souleymane Camara were enough to steer Frederic Hantz's side clear of the drop zone, but left the visitors deep in trouble.
Toulouse were close to taking the lead early on when Wissam Ben Yedder met Etienne Didot's delivery but his header was well saved by Laurent Pionnier.
The visitors continued to create the best chances but, after Oscar Trejo's 18-yard effort was kept out by Pionnier, Montpellier grabbed a surprise lead in the 24th minute.
Camara escaped the attentions of the visitors' defence and his pull-back was met by Yatabare who steered the ball beyond Pionnier for the opener.
The visitors went close to levelling midway through the first half but Ben Yedder's effort from Jean-Daniel Akpa-Akpro's delivery was superbly kept out.
However, with just a couple minutes left to play, Montpellier wrapped up the points when Camara met Ryad Boudebouz's corner to head home at the near post.
