Nicola Sansone's rapid equaliser earned Sassuolo their share of the points from a 1-1 Serie A draw at Chievo.
Saturday night's game started slowly at the Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi, with debuting Flying Donkey striker Antonio Floro Flores missing the mark and Alfred Duncan shooting over for Sassuolo.
In the 29th minute Nicola Rigoni was fouled by Federico Peluso in the Sassuolo box, allowing Valter Birsa to score his second goal in as many games by converting the resultant penalty.
But only one minute and 20 seconds later Sansone rifled home a searing right-footed strike to spare Sassuolo from another defeat.
