Airdrie United vs Cowdenbeath - Diamonds hit by Van Zanten injury absence

Posted Saturday, February 06, 2016 by PA

Airdrie are without David van Zanten against visitors Cowdenbeath.

The 33-year-old has a knee injury while recent signing Jacob Esporito will not be included in the squad as he is short of match practice.

The Diamonds defeated leaders Dunfermline 1-0 in their last outing but manager Eddie Wolecki Black is not for looking back, he said: "That was a good win brought about through a very disciplined performance. However, the past is the past and we moved on to preparing for this game quickly.

"Things are coming together nicely for us after a few changes in January but this will be a test as Cowdenbeath looked to have bolstered their squad as well."

Midfielder Kieran Gibbons, who joined on-loan from Livingston, is set for his Cowdenbeath debut.

Goalkeeper Jamie Sneddon remains out with a thigh strain and Kyle Miller's foot problem keeps him on the sidelines, while Liam Callaghan is struggling to make it after picking up a knock.

Blue Brazil boss Colin Nish said: "We were disappointing in our last game against Stranraer and have to ensure that was a one-off. You cannot afford a disappointing run in a league as competitive as this one.

"Airdrie did well to restrict Dunfermline last week but if we can get back to the way we were playing at the end of 2015 then we have a good chance."
