STALLING: Victor Wanyama has said he won't sign any new contract until the summer

Last summer the Kenyan international handed in a transfer request amid interest from Tottenham and Arsenal are also keen on the midfield general.

Despite a five-year deal being on the table at St Mary's, Wanyama is stalling over putting pen to paper, report the Daily Mirror.

The Saints are concerned that if he does wait to sign they will be forced to sell at a reduced price due to the player being in the last year of his contract.

PROBLEM: Ronald Koeman faces a similar problem with Sadio Mane as he does with Wanyama

Sadio Mane is in a similar position with Manchester United interested and Nathaniel Clyne was sold to Liverpool on the cheap because of that exact problem.

Wanyama has been one of the standout performers for Southampton this season making 26 appearances in all competitions.

CLEAN SHEET: Wanyama and Fraser Forster helped Southampton to a 0-0 draw at Arsenal on Tuesday

The Saints held Arsenal 0-0 on Tuesday evening who happen to be one of the sides interested in the midfielder.

Ronald Koeman's men welcome West Ham to St Mary's on Saturday as they look to close the gap on the Hammers who are one place above them in sixth.
