Morecambe 1 - 1 Portsmouth: Morecambe keeper Barry Roche scores late equaliser against Portsmouth

Morecambe goalkeeper Barry Roche scored a 93rd-minute goal to earn his side a battling 1-1 draw against Portsmouth.

The giant Shrimps stopper came up for a corner and used his frame to full advantage to head Shaun Miller's corner past Ryan Fulton from six yards out to equalise Gareth Evans' first-half goal for Pompey.

Morecambe almost took the lead in the 16th minute when Roche's long clearance almost embarrassed Fulton, who was forced to save at full stretch.

The home side tested Fulton again with Jamie Devitt and Tom Barkhuizen drawing saves from the keeper with long-range efforts on goal.

Portsmouth always looked a threat going forward, with new loan singing Michael Smith forcing a save from Roche after a neat turn and shot in the box, before the striker saw a shot from the edge of the area deflected inches wide.

Evans gave Portsmouth the lead five minutes before the break. Kal Naismith was allowed to run through the middle of the Morecambe midfield and he placed a perfectly weighted ball for Evans to produce a smart finish to beat Roche from 12 yards.

Portsmouth went close to adding a second on 52 minutes with a vicious inswinging corner from Ben Close forcing Roche into a last-gasp save.

Devitt did threaten with a chip from the edge of the box but Portsmouth were finally pegged back by Roche in stoppage time.
