Sheffield Wednesday's new loan signing Aiden McGeady is expected to go straight into their squad for the visit of Burnley.
The Republic of Ireland international joined from Everton on Monday until the end of the season and he is hoping to feature.
Head coach Carlos Carvalhal made nine changes for Saturday's FA Cup defeat at Shrewsbury and the likes of goalkeeper Keiren Westwood, defenders Glenn Loovens and Daniel Pudil, midfielders Barry Bannan and Sam Hutchinson plus striker Fernando Forestieri should return.
Defender Tom Lees is closing in on his comeback after a long-term hamstring injury and goalkeeper Joe Wildsmith (back) is still out.
Burnley boss Sean Dyche must decide whether to recall midfielder Joey Barton and defender Matthew Lowton.
Both players made way for Fredrik Ulvestad and Tendayi Darikwa respectively in Saturday's FA Cup defeat at Arsenal.
Dyche has no major new injury concerns as his side bid to extend their unbeaten league run to six matches.
New signing Paul Robinson, an unused substitute at the weekend, is hoping to be included again but midfielder Dean Marney (calf) remains doubtful.
