Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed that midfielder Jack Wilshere has suffered an injury setback and is set to be sidelined for a further six weeks.

Wilshere suffers yet another injury setback

The 24-year-old has been out with a fractured fibula and has not made a single appearance for the club this season.

The midfielder sustained the injury just before the Community Shield at the start of the season, but suffered a set-back in September when he required surgery on the problem.

Wenger had been hopeful the England international would return mid-February, but has now confirmed that Wilshere remains some way off a return to action.

"Jack is starting to run," Wenger told reporters. "Once you move out, from the first day, you count six weeks to be competitive and build up stamina and intensity.

"You need six weeks to be ready fitness-wise."
