Stranraer 2 - 0 Brechin City: Willie Gibson shines as Stranraer overcome Brechin

Rock-bottom Brechin were beaten again as Willie Gibson's free-kick secured Stranraer a 2-0 victory.

Brechin striker Andy Jackson had the first noteworthy chance of the game but he hooked his shot inches wide.

David Weatherston had the ball in the net for the visitors but he was ruled offside while at the other end Andy Stirling's run and shot brought a decent save from Graeme Smith with Craig Malcolm and Jamie Longworth ready to pounce.

Stranraer broke the deadlock on the stroke of half-time, with Stirling sweeping home the rebound after Gibson had stung the palms of Smith.

Scott Robertson forced the first save of the second half from Smith with a powerful drive but the home side did double their advantage through Gibson's superb free-kick.

Substitute Luciano Nequecaur almost made it three late on and Ryan Thomson had a shot cleared off the line but Stranraer had to settle for 2-0.
